Apollo’s
operations are spread from the southern tip of the Fort St. James
Forest District up to Omineca River. Apollo’s operating areas
total approximately 255,858 ha.

FOREST PRACTICES
In
2001 Apollo developed an Environmental Management System (EMS) that
was specific to its woodlands operations in Fort St. James.
A year later, Apollo’s EMS was third party certified by QMI
to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO 14001)
standard.

COMPANY PROFILE
Apollo
Forest Products Ltd. (Apollo) has been in operation in Fort St. James
since 1969. The company began operations with a contract to provide
railway ties to the British Columbia Railway.

Apollo has a partnership agreement with the Nak’azdli First
Nation in Tl’oh Forest Products Ltd – a joint venture
valued added processing facility.

FOREST NEWS
The
one constant in the forest industry is change. The legislative framework
guiding forest management in BC has recently changed from the Forest
Practices Code (the code) to the Forest and Range Practices Act(FRPA).
The Forest Stewardship Plan (FSP) directed under FRPA replaces the
heavily prescriptive Forest Development Plan previously required
under the code.
